Welcome...

My name is Sammy Rogmans -- aka SaMe -- and this website is dedicated to one of my greatest passions, i.e. state-of-the-art multimedia. Since July 2006, I have teamed up with IMEC, Europe's leading independent research center in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics, nanotechnology, enabling design methods and technologies for ICT systems. I have been working there as a Master student intern until May 2007, but was immediately offered a cushy job as Multimedia Application Engineer. As for the subsequent months, I prepared my PhD proposal (Dutch) which got accepted by the IWT under grant number SB071150. Therefore, starting from January 2008, I am conducting research to obtain my PhD in computer vision-based parallelization methodologies. The research involves a collaboration of EDM -- located at the Hasselt University -- and IMEC, since I have setup my PhD in a common interest context. My (English) PhD title is as follows;

Parallelization of Multi-Camera Video Algorithms for Intelligent Supercomputing on Hybrid Multiprocessor Environments

But to avoid any further digression for this page, the interested reader is referred to my PhD topic. Because of all these things, I have the priviledge of working together with a lot of competent researchers and companies, such as NVIDIA. I therefore often get acquainted with state-of-the-art technology considering multimedia. This website will keep a record of my encounters with such innovations, throughout the journey of my PhD. Enjoy!

Kind regards,
Sammy
